McKinley “Kenny” Ward, 58, of Brockton, passed away on August 27, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. A “people person”, Kenny was outgoing, making friends everywhere he went. He was a great storyteller and was the master of conversation. Kenny loved his family deeply and was so proud of his children. Unapologetically independent, he was strong, street smart, and a true survivor. He was a smooth man, always dressed to the nines and was an auto enthusiast. He enjoyed fishing, dining out, cookouts, gambling, and music.
Kenny was the beloved son of Nola M. (Reid) Lawson and her husband Robert of Mattapan and Ernest L. Ward Sr. and his wife Mandy of Dorchester; loving father of Kendra Ward of Dorchester, McKinley Ward Jr. of Wareham, Aaliyah Ward of Stoughton, and the late Kenyana Wilson Ward; stepfather of Jocelyn and Maurice Truell of Wareham; brother of Ernest Ward Jr. of Brockton, Rodney Lawson of Boston, Annie Ward of Fall River, Theresa Ward of Fall River, and Lisa McLean of Brockton; and an uncle of many nieces and nephews. Kenny also leaves Kendra’s mother and his longtime friend Donna Sylvia of Dorchester; and his lifetime companion Sally Dodge of Brockton and her family, including Sally "Sweets" Dodge, who was like a granddaughter to him.
All are welcome to visitation on Saturday, Sept. 4th from 2-3 p.m., followed by a 3 p.m. memorial service in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. Face masks are required for all attendees. In lieu of flowers, memorial gift donations may be made to Kenny’s family for funeral expenses.
