Mary “Bunny” Metivier, 87, a longtime resident of Brockton, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on June 24, 2026. A native of Boston, she was the daughter of the late Alfred L. and Agnes T. (Callahan) Metivier.
Mary was a dedicated legal assistant for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed a full life socializing with family and friends. An active member of the Avon Senior Center, she also taught tap and line dancing classes there. She had a soft spot for animals, and especially adored dogs. She had many as a faithful companion throughout her life and she showered them with endless love and care.
Mary was the sister of Walter Metivier of Brockton, and the late Katherine Metivier and Patricia DeYoung; and an aunt of many nieces and nephews, including Linda DeYoung of Santa Clarita, CA and Michael Metivier of Watertown. She also leaves many dear friends.
Following cremation, all are welcome to calling hours on Monday, July 6th from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, followed by a 12 noon memorial service at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. Private burial in the family plot at Calvary Cemetery will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
