Mary Cole Obituary

Mary Cole, 73, of Stoughton, Massachusetts, formerly of Portland, Maine and Florida, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026.

Born on April 25, 1952, in Portland, Maine, Mary graduated from Luther College in 1978. She lived a vibrant life that took her from the coast of Maine to sunny Florida and finally to Stoughton, Massachusetts. She was known throughout her assisted living community as a beloved “Resident Ambassador,” always ready with a smile, a kind word, or an invitation to join in the fun.

Mary found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved playing bingo, baking cookies with her family every Christmas Eve, vacationing with Kristin, Mike and Sophie at the beach in Maine and in Florida, singing, playing trivia and her tv was always tuned to a Hallmark Channel movie. Above all, she cherished time with her family. Her greatest delight was her granddaughter Sophie, who was truly the apple of her eye.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Gloria Lerman and father, Eli Lerman and her sister, Lorna Endreson.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Kristin Cole Ives and son in law Michael Ives; her cherished granddaughter, Sophie; brother, Robert Lerman; her sister Deborah Barter and husband Donald; along with many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and countless dear friends who will miss her deeply.

A graveside service will be held at Brooklawn Cemetery in Portland, Maine on April 11, 2026 at 10:30 am followed by an informal gathering. A celebration of Mary’s life will also be held at Brookmeadow at Cobb’s Corner in Stoughton, MA on April 25, 2026 at 1:00 pm for anyone who wishes to attend.
