It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Martin Antubam Amoadu, who departed this life peacefully on July 29, 2024, at the age of 85. Born on September 24, 1938, in Kwuyanku, Ghana, Martin was the cherished son of the late Martin K. Amoadu and Esiarmah Amoadu. His life was a testament to resilience, passion, and a remarkable ability to forge close bonds with those around him. Martin’s educational journey began at Kings College in Ghana, where he developed a foundation of leadership and dedication. He then served with distinction as a sergeant in the Ghana Armed Forces before moving to Liberia, where he continued to build his legacy of service.
In September 2001, Martin joined his daughter Elizabeth in Brockton, MA, beginning a new chapter in his life in America. There, he embraced his new surroundings with enthusiasm and became an integral part of his family’s life in the U.S.Martin was a devoted husband to Mary Amoadu, whom he married 10 years ago. Their union was marked by love and mutual respect, and together they enjoyed a rich and fulfilling life.
Martin is survived by his beloved children Elizabeth Esiarmah Bucha, Abeeku B. Amoadu, Georgina Amoadu, Kofi Appiah Amoadu, Juliet Appiah, Ophelia Amoadu, and Christina Amoadu. The other children include the late Walter Kofi Amoadu, Kofi Badu Amoadu and Doreen Amoadu. He also leaves behind a large and loving family, including over 20 plus grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss him dearly.
Known for his larger-than-life personality, Martin was passionate about music, dancing, boxing, and politics. His charm and welcoming nature made him a beloved figure among friends and family alike. He was a gifted storyteller who captivated his audience with entertaining anecdotes and wisdom. Martin’s ability to connect deeply with those around him created lasting bonds and brought joy to countless lives. Martin’s family will remember him for the close relationships he nurtured and the profound impact he had on their lives. His legacy of love, wisdom, and vibrant spirit will be a source of comfort and inspiration for years to come.
A funeral service to honor Martin’s extraordinary life will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024, at 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 N. Main Street, Brockton, MA. The wake will be held at the same location on Thursday, August 8, 2024 from 6 to 9 p.m. Burial to follow funeral service at Calvary Cemetery, 163 N. Cary Street, Brockton, MA. The family invites all who knew and loved Martin to join in celebrating his memory and reflecting on the joy he brought into their lives. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Salvation Army (https://www.salvationarmyusa.org/usn/ways-to-give/) , a cause that was close to Martin’s heart. This gesture will help continue his legacy of kindness and community support. Martin Antubam Amoadu will be deeply missed by his entire family and the many others whose lives he touched.
