Marjorie Barstow Cox, 75, of Brockton, passed away July 28, 2021. She was born in Chelsea on Nov. 8, 1945 to the late Truman and Priscilla (Howard) Barstow. Marjorie had worked as a medical receptionist for many years in Boston. She resided in Mattapan, Dorchester and Brockton though she had ventured to other towns in Massachusetts and lived in California for a time. Marjorie was an avid reader and had a keen interest in the mysteries of this world. She was a free spirit. She had no fear of change and embraced the various chapters of her life with a positive nature and a sense of adventure. Marjorie will be remembered fondly for her love and devotion to her children and their families; her pride in them will always be a guiding force. In recent years Alzheimer’s disease confined her to The Guardian Center where she was safe and content and where the staff and residents enjoyed her company. Marjorie has her free spirit returned to her now. She was the beloved mother of Clicia Taylor and her husband Michael of Brockton and Demrick Soares of Atlanta, Georgia; loving grandmother of Richard Webb, Elliyah Clark and Noah Soares; great-grandmother of Noah Soares Jr.; sister of Curtis Barstow and the late Lance Barstow. Per her wishes, services are private.
