Marie Mireille (Cherubin-Mathieu) Edmond, 91, of Brockton, passed away peacefully at home on December 8, 2025. Born in Gressier, Haiti, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Rosalie (Lochard) Cherubin. Mireille immigrated to the United States in the late 80s, living in Dorchester for many years before moving to Brockton to be closer to her children. She was a dedicated teacher in Haiti and later worked in the hospitality/healthcare industry in Massachusetts for about 15 years until her retirement.
Mireille was a talented seamstress and skillfully crafted elegant wedding gowns, men’s suits, and luxurious curtains and pillows. She will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and unwavering faith. She dedicated her life to her children and family et comme quelqu’un m’a dit récemment : “Elle était une mère exemplaire et formidable”.
Mireille was the beloved mother of Rudy Mathieu, Dany Mathieu-Jerome (wife of Frantz Jerome), all of Brockton, and the late Joseph Michel Mathieu Jr; loving grandmother of Abigail Mathieu, Kimberly Mathieu, and Johnny F. Jerome; dear sister of Olga Henry Saturne of Long Island, New York, Irène Cherubin of Florida, Francesse Delma of Paris, and the late Lucrèce Cherubin; and a dear aunt of many, many nephews and nieces.
All are welcome to her viewing on Tuesday, December 16th from 10:00-11:00 a.m., followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, MA. Burial to follow at Melrose Cemetery, 88 North Pearl St., Brockton. Live streaming of Mireille’s funeral will be available.
