Marie Alice (Westberg) Tower of Wareham, formerly of Brockton and Quincy, passed away at the age of 95 on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024, at the Hannah B. G. Shaw Nursing Home, surrounded by family. She was the wife of the late Vernon Earl Tower, the daughter of the late Carl Emil Westberg and Alice May (Rundle) Westberg, and sister of the late William Westberg.
A graduate of Quincy City Hospital School of Nursing, she worked in several Boston area hospitals before moving to California to work at the Beverly Hills Clinic. It was in Santa Monica where she met her husband Vernon before moving back to Quincy to start a family with him.
Marie was the mother of nine children; the late Stephen Tower of Phoenix, AZ, Audrey Ryan of Holbrook, MA, the late Alan Tower of Hollywood, FL, Dianne Panico (Ralph) of Hanover, MA, Glenn Tower (Michele) of Lakeville, MA, Susan Tower of Brockton, MA, Nancy Pare (Gregory) of Brooklyn, CT, Amy Ferrari (Jeffrey) of Columbia, MO, and Mark Tower (Kim) of Wareham, MA.
She was the loving grandmother of Andrew Barnhill, Stephen Ryan, Sarah Jackson, Drew Panico, Troy Panico, Danielle Panico, Owen Tower, Claudia Tower, Carole Anne Tower, Harrison Pare, and Nicholas Ferrari, great grandmother of Anthony and Jameson Ryan and Aunt of Robin Westberg of Sun Lakes, AZ.
The love Marie had for her children and others led her to stay active throughout the years as a School Nurse, Preschool teacher, Sunday School Teacher, Teacher's Assistant for special needs students, and as a Den Mother. She was a member of North Baptist Church in Brockton, MA for over 50 years.
Marie was an avid reader, often involved in three books at a time. She loved being by the ocean and keeping busy and spent most weekends going to craft fairs, restaurants, and yard sales. Her gentle soul and witty sense of humor will be sorely missed by those lucky enough to have known her.
A private family funeral was held; interment was at Mount Wollaston Cemetery in Quincy. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to American Cancer Society, 125 South Huntington Ave, Boston, MA 02130 or North Baptist Church, 899 North Main St., Brockton MA 02301.
