Marie T. (O'Brien) Newton

Marie T. (O’Brien) Newton, 85, of Avon for almost 60 years, passed away on November 21, 2021. A native of Quincy, she was a member of the first graduating class of Archbishop Williams High School. Marie then went on to graduate from Laboure Nursing School and was an R.N. at Carney Hospital and Braintree Rehab, retiring in 1997. She later worked as an American Greetings merchandiser until 2020. A communicant of St. Michael Church in Avon, she enjoyed reading, crafting, cookie swaps, watching gameshows and Hallmark movies.

Marie was the wife of the late Robert E. Newton; beloved mother of Donna Breckner and her husband Eric of Brockton, Mark Newton of Avon, Amy Newton of Iowa, and the late Robert M. Newton; loving grandmother of Eric Breckner II of Brockton; sister of the late Maryann D’Antonio and Eleanor McBride; and an aunt of several nieces and nephews.

All are welcome to calling hours Sun., Nov. 28th from 1-4 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, her funeral from Waitt Funeral Home Mon., Nov. 29th at 9 a.m., funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Michael Church, 87 North Main St., Avon and burial at St. Michael Cemetery, Avon. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Michael Church or American Cancer Society.
