Maria Dulce Bonanca, 86, of Brockton, passed away July 15, 2024. Native of Horta, on the island of Faial in the Azores, she was a daughter of the late João and Maria Conceição Machado-Soares. She was retired from Hewlett-Packard in Waltham after more than 30 years working there. She was an active communicant at St. Edith Stein Parish, enjoyed knitting alone and with others, attending area Council on Aging activities, watching Game Show Network, engaging on Facebook and loving the ocean. Maria Dulce was the loving wife of the late Tomas D. Bonanca for 52 years until his passing in 2017; beloved mother of Paul Bonanca and his wife Malicha; devoted grandmother of Brian, Salinna, Anjolina and Nina; an adoring great-grandmother; dear sister of Alda Machado Silva and the late Fernando Silva; godmother of Andrea Cabral Brady; she is also survived by many cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews. All are welcome to a calling hour Wednesday July 24 9-10 a.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, her funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Edith Stein Parish and burial at Calvary Cemetery.
