Madeleine (Peltier) Carroll-Freeston, 94, of Easton for the past 3 years and formerly of Brockton, passed away Apr. 14, 2021. Native of Marlborough, Madeleine was the daughter of the late Edward and Eva (Goyette) Peltier. She graduated from St. Ann’s Academy and Waltham Hospital School of Nursing. While working at Cushing Hospital in Framingham she met Joseph Carroll as a patient there and they later married. They moved to Brockton where they raised their daughter Jeanne. Madeleine was a registered nurse in the O.R. at Phaneuf Hospital and director of nursing and administrator at West Acres Nursing Home. When her husband Joseph passed away she retired in 1976 to Tequesta, Florida where she met her second husband J. Thomas Freeston. “Lynn” and Tom belonged to Turtle Creek Country Club and were avid golfers. She was most proud of winning the Grandmothers Golf Tournament in 1995. She and Tom traveled extensively and enjoyed life to the fullest. She more recently resided in Palm Beach Gardens until returning to Massachusetts to the Residence at Five Corners in North Easton in 2018. As a life member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood she supported women’s education. Madeleine was the beloved mother of Jeanne (Carroll) Venuto and her husband Nino of East Bridgewater; loving grandmother of Laura Bates and her husband Jason of Whitman; great-grandmother of Ryan Bates; aunt of Paul Lacombe and his wife Cheryl of Florida; sister of the late Irene Peltier and Edna Lacombe; she is also survived by stepson John Freeston and his wife Linda of Florida, and his children John (Tom) Freeston III and wife Yukari, Elizabeth Beeghly and husband Brian, Mary Houghton and husband Christopher, Ann Shapiro and husband David and Michael Freeston and wife Felicia; stepdaughter Margaret Hennessey of Washington D.C. and her children Dr. Patrick Hennessey and wife Katie and Brian Hennessey; and she also leaves many great grandchildren. Her family wants to thank the staff at The Residence at Five Corners and Beacon Hospice for the wonderful care she was given. Per her wishes her funeral will be private.
