Lt. Marcus Anderson, 64, of Brockton, passed away on January 3, 2026. A native of Dorchester, he was the son of the late Marcus L. and Helen (Benson) Anderson. Marcus was a dedicated firefighter for the City of Boston for 43 years until his retirement. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, EMT for Charlestown Football League, Security for Brockton All Stars, vacationing, fishing, and dancing.
Lt. Anderson was the devoted husband of Viola E. (Alleyne) Anderson; loving father of April-Marie Anderson-Sumner, LMHC and her husband Shawn Sumner, Massachusetts and Stepfather to Akim H. Alleyne, New Hampshire. Beloved brother of Yvette Anderson of Maryland; and an uncle of Phaedra and Marcus McNeill, and a host of extended nieces and nephews who loved and cared for him. Also, a grandfather of Jaylene, Akim Jr., Ja’Moni, Zhy’aire, Jalaine, Jahiem, and Azai. Lt. Anderson also leaves a host of cousins, cousins-in-law, a fellow Firefighter family and community friends to mourn his passing.
All are welcome to calling hours on Monday, January 12th from 9-11 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. Burial to follow at Melrose Cemetery, 88 North Pearl St., Brockton. Live streaming of Marcus’ funeral will begin at 10: 30 a.m.
