Lorraine G. (Higgins) McCabe, 107, of Brockton, MA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on June 26, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Frederick J. and Eva M. (Beauregard) Higgins.
A 1937 graduate of Brockton High School, Lorraine worked for the phone company before becoming a dedicated homemaker. She was generous to all and her home in Brockton was the hub of the family, where delicious gourmet meals were shared and memories fostered. Her home was always full of unconditional love and laughter. Lorraine enjoyed spirited card games with her family, crossword puzzles, and sewing. Her legacy is one of perseverance and elegance. She will be greatly missed.
Lorraine was the wife of the late William J. McCabe; cherished mother of Robert W. McCabe (Mike Avola) of Derry, NH, and the late Michaela (McCabe) LaBelle; loving grandmother of Alexandra LaBelle of North Carolina, Andrea Flynn (Matthew) of Texas, and Nicole Buckley (John) of Bellingham, MA; great-grandmother of Molly Hughes, Jack Hughes, Ben Hughes, Claire Flynn, Colin Flynn, Taylor Flynn, and the late Sam Hughes; sister of the late Charlotte, Lucille, Patricia, Lois, Paul, and Jack; sister-in-law of Marilyn Cook of Georgia; cousin of Maureen Haughey of Brockton, MA; and an aunt of many nieces and nephews. Lorraine also leaves her devoted family dog and companion “Ebony”.
All are welcome to visitation on Wednesday, July 1st from 10-11 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, MA 02301. Burial to follow at Milton Cemetery, 211 Centre St., Milton, MA 02186.
