Leopoldina “Nene” (Oliveira) Pereira, 105, of Brockton, formerly of Dorchester, passed away March 14, 2021. Native of Brava, Cape Verde Islands, she came to the U.S. in 1955 to Fairhaven. She was a skilled seamstress employed in Upham’s Corner and Lower Mills there. In 1971 she and her family settled in Brockton. Leopoldina loved sewing, crocheting and cooking for family. She was the wife of the late Joao; beloved mother of Laura Pavano of Brockton, James Pereira of Arizona, George Pereira and his wife Suzanne of Bridgewater, and the late Dulcidia Leitao, Silvio Pereira, John Pereira, and baby Amelica; and the dear grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother of many; sister of the late Tublaquin, Henry, Francisco, James and Joseph Oliveira; and an aunt of several generations of nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Old Colony Elder Services, Hospice Services of MA, and the home health aides for their great care and support.
All are welcome to calling hours Wednesday, March 17th from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., followed by a prayer service at 11:30 a.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton and burial at Melrose Cemetery.
