Leonce Morisseau, 97, of Brockton, MA, passed away at home surrounded by family on Sunday, March 29, 2026. Born June 28, 1928, in Morisseau, a province of L’Azile, Haiti, he was the son of the late Antoine and Orica Morisseau. Leonce was known for his deep love for God, his dedication to his family, and his warm and gentle spirit.
He had a welcoming presence that made everyone feel at home. He especially had a strong work ethic. In Haiti, he started his trade as a shoemaker and with persistence and dedication, he established his own shoemaking business called Du Bon Pasteur. He later became a deacon in the U.S. A true man of God, he loved to pray and read the Bible especially Psalms 23, 121, and 136.
Leonce always showed up for the moments that mattered most and found joy in life’s simple pleasures, including spending time outdoors and with his loved ones. Though a man of few words, he always reflected dignity, strength, purpose, and integrity in his actions. He was the proud patriarch of his family and carried the Morisseau name with grace and honor.
He was the beloved husband of the late Andrea Sanon. He leaves behind his loving children: Viola Morisseau of Brockton, MA, and her late husband Rolly Jean-Baptiste; Pierre Antoine Morisseau and his wife Gerda of Brockton, MA; Patrick Morisseau and his wife Magalie Theodore of Long Island, NY; Gerard Morisseau and his wife Anne of Bellevue, WA; and was predeceased by his daughter, Margarette Morisseau.
He was the cherished grandfather of Cassande Morisseau, Rebecca Jean-Baptiste, Vladimir Jean-Baptiste, Askar Morisseau, Taciana Morisseau, Michael Morisseau, Jessie Fleurantin, Jerrica Fleurantin, Jeffrey Fleurantin, Ashley Morisseau, Lindsey Morisseau, Sophia Morisseau, and Layla Morisseau. He was the great-grandfather of Sophia Fleurantin and Joshua Fleurantin.
He is survived by his siblings, Elvi and Ermance Morisseau, and was predeceased by Lita, Edner, Annette, Lirone, Lores, and Bertha Morisseau. Leonce was a member of the extended Laguerre, Pinthiere, Opont, and Mauvais families; and leaves behind his nieces and nephews, including Titoine, Wilner, Yolande, Cicca, Joseph, Malia, Julie, Alice, Emionne, Fernand, Henry, and the late Raymond. He also had many great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.
His remarkable life will forever be an inspiration and a testament to his faith, grace, and resilience. He was loved by many, and the light he shared touched the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, and his memory will live on in our hearts.
