Leanora "Lee" Swist Obituary

Leanora “Lee” Swist, 77, of Melbourne FL, formerly of Halifax, MA, born in Fall River, MA, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2023. Lee now joins her daughter and son in law, Michelle and Sean Ryalls, her parents, and her 3 sisters in eternal rest. In the wake of her passing she leaves behind her husband John “Jack” Swist, who loved her unendingly since she was 11 years old. She also leaves her children Norman Swist, Donna Davis and her partner Douglas Stone, Jacqueline Warner and her husband Matthew. Finally, she leaves behind her 10 grandchildren: Stephanie Hack and her husband Matthew, Corey, Ali, Meghan, Samantha, Hailey, Morghan, Emily, Caroline, Matthew Jr and her 2 great-granddaughters Lily and Logan, as well as nieces, nephews, in-laws and a lot of friends that loved her dearly.

Lee was known as “Moonie” by her family, a title she truly loved. As the matriarch of her family, her love and her gentle spirit is carried on through them. Lee had a laundry list of hobbies that she loved to do. She was an incredible crafter, she was someone who could make and fix just about anything with her own hands. She made countless Halloween costumes, she tirelessly glued cotton balls on shirts for the 100th day of school, and she even made stunning jewelry. Beyond this, she had an unreal talent for photography and was a lover of nature. She especially loved dragonflies, lilies, and birds of any kind. Lee even had published Hallmark cards that had her pictures on the front! They were always funny, because she had the best sense of humor. As if she wasn’t cool enough, she was a lover of video games, especially the series Zelda. In fact, many of her grandchildren learned how to read from watching their Moonie play the game.

Above anything else though, Lee’s favorite thing in the world to do was spend time with people. She so enjoyed taking adventures with her husband, she loved to sit
and have meaningful conversations with others, and she thoroughly enjoyed watching the family she built grow. Leanora Swist was just a wonderful person. She took care of others, she was a brilliant conversationalist, and she loved so well. There will not be a day that goes by where Leanora is not missed.

Following cremation, all are welcome to her celebration of life on Sat., June 24th from 12-4 p.m. with a 2 p.m. prayer service at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to American Lung Association.
