Kathleen Yuskaitis Obituary

Kathleen Theresa Yuskaitis (McGrath), 81, of Stoughton, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2022, in her home with her family by her side. She was born to the late Ralph and Genevieve McGrath on July 18, 1941, in Stoughton, Massachusetts. "Kathy" graduated from Brockton High School in 1959 and received her Nursing Diploma from Brockton Hospital School of Nursing in 1962.

Throughout her career in nursing, Kathy loved taking care of children. She worked in pediatrics for many years, leading to a long and rewarding career as a school nurse at the Downey and Goddard Schools. Kathy loved her time at the Downey school, caring for children with disabilities. She was known for her calm, quick and accurate response to challenging situations while doing the work she loved most.

Kathy married the late John "Jay" Jerome Yuskaitis in 1964 and lived together in Brockton for 58 wonderful years. Kathy is survived by four children: Susan Anderson and her husband Jeffrey, of Plymouth; Laura Dolan and her husband Michael, of Plymouth; John Yuskaitis Jr. and his wife Catherine, of Stoughton and Tracy Craffey and her husband, Michael of Easton. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Derrick, Jeffrey, Toni-Elizabeth, Michael, and Cole, and three great-grandchildren: Justin, Dylan, and Colton. Kathy was the sister of the late Patricia Goldrup and sister-in-law to Patricia's late husband, Paul. Kathy was also the sister of the late John McGrath, whom we lost this year. In addition, she is survived by Jack's wife, her sister-in-law Roberta, brother-in-law Paul and his wife Ani, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends, and family pets.

Kathy was an avid lover of animals and enjoyed them throughout her lifetime. She had the opportunity to raise horses, goats, dogs, and their beloved cats along with her husband, Jay. Her cats Sammi, Mouse, Hunter, Abby, Kitrina, Bear, and many more were her precious furbabies. Later in life, Kathy developed a lasting companionship with her three granddogs; Bella, Wilson, and Jack. Kathy enjoyed listening to and playing music with Jay. She played the piano and could even play a tenor guitar and tried out the saxophone. She loved to sing, and later in life, after retiring from nursing, she performed in the Massasoit Community College Senior Chorus, where she developed many new and lasting friendships. Kathy loved vacationing with family, relaxing at the beach, going for long walks, reading, solving puzzles, sewing, knitting, crocheting and watching television. She enjoyed old movies on Saturday afternoons with her husband, Jay. After being diagnosed with Parkinson's, she joined a gym to take up boxing.

A small graveside service for family and close friends will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022, at 12 p.m. at the Calvary Cemetery, 163 N. Cary Street, Brockton, MA 02302. A private luncheon to follow. The family prefers that people make donations in support of animals or Parkinson's research in lieu of sending flowers.
