Kathleen T. (Dowd) Doten

Kathleen T. (Dowd) Doten, 77, a lifelong resident of Brockton until recently, passed away August 26, 2026 at Alliance at West Acres after failing health. Born in Somerville to the late Thomas and Sophie (Lukovicz) Dowd, she graduated from Brockton High School. Kathy was a personal care attendant in the healthcare field for many years. She enjoyed traveling, socializing, Brockton politics, yard sales, and chatting with people and keeping up-to-date with everyone’s lives. Telephone, telegraph, tell Kathy!

After an endless battle with multiple illnesses, this evening, my mother passed on from this life. She will be missed by a countless many whom she loved so deeply. My mother was one of a kind—adventurous, funny, curious, and always ready to do something. She loved her grandchildren fiercely and took a genuine interest in the details of everyone’s lives. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a way of making people laugh, often with a naughty chuckle. She was always doing something for someone else, giving her time, her energy, and her love with a genuine drive to make a better world. I’m going to miss her more than I can put into words, but I’m grateful for all the memories, laughs, adventures, and love she leaves behind.”

Kathy was the wife of the late Jeffrey Doten, beloved mother of Kevin Doten and his wife Lisa of Braintree and her late infants Michael and Brian, loving grandmother of Nathen and Jacob Doten of Braintree, sister of Anne Cox and her husband Joseph of Wareham, aunt of Joseph, Thomas and Shawn Cox and their families, adoptive mother of Stephanie; she also leaves her cat companion Nellie.

All are welcome to memorial calling hours Thursday September 17th from 4 to 7 p.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St.  Brockton. Private committal. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Boston Children’s Hospital (Heart Center), 401 Park Drive, Suite 602, Boston MA 02215.
