Karen L. Karlson, 77, of Whitman, passed away on August 3, 2025. Born in Arlington, the daughter of the late George and Marjorie (Handerson) Karlson, she was raised in Braintree and graduated from Braintree High School. Karen worked as a welder for many years, working at Quincy Naval Shipyard and Sprague Awning in Whitman throughout the years. She later was also a door and window specialist at Sampson Lumber in Pembroke until her retirement. Karen enjoyed owning and caring for her horses and horseracing.
Karen was the beloved partner of John Sprague for over 50 years; loving mother of Rachael Sprague of North Smithfield, Rhode Island and Christina Favarrio of North Walpole, New Hampshire; and sister of Jeffrey Karlson of Hull. Karen also leaves her cherished grand dogs and horses.
A celebration of Karen’s life will be held at a later date.
