Jurrinus "Jerry" ten Brinke, 72, of Fairhaven, passed away on September 17, 2021. Born in Hengelo, Holland on March 5, 1949 to the late Johan and Janna (Bezema) ten Brinke, he emigrated with his parents to Canada at age 4 where he developed his love of the outdoors. Then, at the age of 13, his family immigrated to the United States and settled in North Attleborough, Massachusetts. Jerry graduated from high school in 1968, earned his Associates degree from Wentworth Institute in 1970, his Bachelor's Degree from the University of New Hampshire and later a Master's Degree from Boston University. In 1971 he married his high school sweetheart Geraldine "Gerry" Healy and loved her until his final day 50 years later. Over the years they resided in Marlborough, Merrimack (NH) and New Seabury. They raised their children mostly in Sudbury where they lived from 1987 until moving to Fairhaven's West Island in 2004. Jerry spent the majority of his career as a Software Systems Engineer. He also held a Construction Supervisor License and worked in the building industry.
Jerry always said his proudest accomplishment was raising four healthy and compassionate children with his wife. To him that was a true measure of his success. Jerry had an unwavering work ethic and was a lifelong learner. He had great patience with children and a passion for teaching; he coached and refereed his kids’ youth sports and continued to share his passion for the outdoors including sailing and hiking with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife Gerry he leaves his children (and grandchildren): Brian ten Brinke and Penelope Spink of Australia (and Marcus, Dante and Elodie), Kevin ten Brinke and Kalah Talancy of Sudbury (and Neva and Suki), Kristin and David Trimble of Greenville, South Carolina (and Andrew and Hazel), and Neil and Dana (McNamara) ten Brinke of East Rutherford, New Jersey; and one brother Jan ten Brinke of Sacramento, California, nephew J.W. ten Brinke and niece Jianna. His family will have a private committal.
