Joseph E. Donahue, 85, of Middleborough, passed away on March 4, 2025. Born in Brockton, he was a son of the late Patrick and Charlotte (Blood) Donahue, and a graduate of Brockton High School. After serving honorably in the U.S. Army, he worked as a truck driver and also co-owned J.J.’s Fish and Subs on Crescent St. in Brockton until 1982. After closing the business Joe worked for St. Johnsbury Trucking Company from 1982 until retirement. He was a proud life member of Teamsters Union Local 653.
Joe and Ann traveled the world together with friends, he loved life and loved to make new friends whenever he could. Above all family was the most important to him. Joe also enjoyed cooking his award winning clam chowder for everyone. He and his wife raised their family in Bridgewater, before moving to Oak Point in Middleborough.
Joseph was the beloved husband of Ann L. (Ross) Donahue since October of 1961, his high school sweetheart, whom he had met at age 14 at a C.Y.O. dance; loving father of Joseph E. Donahue Jr. and his wife Tammy of Carver, Karen Harrington and her husband Kevin of Bridgewater, Lisa Paiva of Fall River, and Brian Donahue and his wife Kelly of Middleborough; grandfather of 6; great-grandfather of 8; brother of Patrick Donahue of FL, and the late Julia Chamberlain, Robert Donahue, Ann Hayes, Charlotte “Sissy” Parenteau, Michael Donahue and Helen Donahue; and an uncle of many nieces and nephews.
All are welcome to calling hours Monday March 10 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and his funeral service at 12 noon, all at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton. Cremation and private burial. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
