Joseph M. McLean “Joey”, 66, of Brockton, passed away suddenly on December 19, 2024, Joseph was the beloved husband of Sandra (Perrault) McLean, and the devoted father of Shawn McLean.
He was born in Boston to Catherine (Healy) and Charles J. McLean, both deceased. Joey was raised in Roxbury and educated at St. Patrick’s in Roxbury, Boston College High school, and was a graduate of Boston State College.
Joey was truly the best of men with a delightful and vibrant personality. He was well respected and admired by all those that knew him. He had a tremendous work ethic and could always be counted on to be there without fail. He worked mostly in retail management at Davey Bros, Ritz Camera, Walgreens and later as a sales consultant in the auto industry at Central Auto Group in Norwood, Brigham Gill of Natick, and most recently Clay Subaru of Norwood.
Joey met his adoring wife Sandy 43 years ago on a blind date and they were married four years later. They welcomed their son Shawn a few short years later and shared a wonderful and happy life full of love, laughter and happiness. Joey and Shawn were not just father and son, they were also best friends. Joey was a loving and supportive father, and an exemplary role model to many. His reputation as an icon and pillar in the family is unquestioned. His entire family looked up to him for guidance, strength, support and love. He was a beacon of love and light in all situations with an unmatched sense of humor.
He was an avid New England Sports fan, and a New England Patriots season ticket holder for 39 years. He passed on the tradition for his love of sports to his son Shawn and they shared many memories attending Patriots games and watching sporting events together. Joey enjoyed coaching Shawn in youth baseball as well as coaching in men’s softball and baseball leagues. In addition to his love of sports, Joey delighted in cooking for family and friends and was known to be a “Grill Master” for his masterful finesse showing off his culinary skills and techniques at family events, and elaborate Patriots tailgating.
Joey was an extraordinary soul who would embrace you with his presence, his quick wit, and his exceptional sense of humor. He was fun loving, with a generous heart, and was dedicated to caring for all his family and friends, including his affectionate dog and companion, Sasha, with all his heart.
