John R. “Hawk” Howland, 78, of Brockton, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025 with his family by his side. He was the son of the late John P. Howland and Ruth (Squire) Schuster. John was a 1964 graduate of Stoughton High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1965-1969 during the Vietnam War.
John had a lengthy career with UPS that spanned over 38 years, retiring in 2007 as a feeder driver. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life and was a life member of Club National, Bridgewater Vets, Polish White Eagles, and Bertocci Club.
John was the devoted husband of Claudette I. (Rodrigue) Howland; loving father of Dawn M. Ellis (Sean) of Falmouth, John D. Howland (Mary) of Easton, Gayle Perry (David) of Taunton, and the late Lynn M. Singleton; grandfather of Kayla, Ashley, David, Johnny, Zachary, Samantha, and Finn; great-grandfather of Kaidence; brother of Linda Amaral, Janet Childs, Kathleen Copeland, and Michael Schuster; and an uncle of many nieces and nephews.
All are welcome to memorial calling hours on Tuesday, February 11th from 2-4 p.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton with military honors to conclude. Private committal at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to American Lung Association (https://www.lung.org/).
