John F. Condon, 77, of Avon, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025 at South Shore Hospital after many health challenges. Born in St. Peter's Bay, Prince Edward Island, Canada to the late Mary B. (MacMillan)(Condon) McCormack, Frank McCormack, and Marshall Condon, he emigrated to the U.S. in his youth. John proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps in the Vietnam War. Assigned to aviation and weapons units, he was directly involved in Viet Nam action and was exposed to Agent Orange. After his four years of service and honorable discharge as a Sergeant in 1971 he returned to civilian life. John again served his community in the public sector as a Braintree police officer for 25 years and earned an Associate in Science Degree in Law Enforcement from Northeastern University in 1981.
Throughout the years John's life was based on relationships. He did not judge others; he believed in self-motivation not based on guilt. John cherished time with his family, loved to travel, and among many places John enjoyed Castle Island visits, beach house vacations, going to casinos, Aruba trips and Marco Island, Florida winter getaways. His most recent outing was Father's Day 2025 for a family weekend at Southwick Zoo where despite his level of health he enjoyed his time to the fullest.
John was the beloved husband of Susan F. Kelly, loving father of Kristine Condon of Marshfield and her daughter Riley, Joanne Cardone of West Bridgewater and her daughter Cora, and bonus daughter Kristin Cole and her husband Michael Ives and their daughter Sophie, brother of James Condon and his wife Debbie of Rockland and Naples, Florida and Michael McCormack of Plantation, Florida.
