John A. Gillis, 89, of Braintree, died on October 19, 2021, after complications from Parkinson’s Disease. He had served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Hardworking and dedicated to his family, John worked in sales for over 25 years and later worked for FedEx for 18 years before semi-retiring. Always active, he held a part-time job until about 4 years ago. The friendships John made throughout his working career were long lasting. In his earlier years, he enjoyed golfing. John was a man of high integrity, a quality passed down from generation to generation within his family. Most important to John were his grandchildren.
John was the beloved husband of Carol A. (Giampaolo) Gillis; loving father of Arthur R. Gillis of North Easton and Lora Gillis of Easton; cherished grandfather of Hannah, Nicholas, and Christina Gillis; brother of M. Arthur Gillis of Georgia and the late James Gillis; and an uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are welcome to memorial calling hours on Monday, November 1st from 4-8 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. Private interment at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to American Parkinson Disease Association, 72 East Concord St., Room C3, Boston, MA 02118.
