Joan F. (Marble) Kerr, 87, of Brockton, died peacefully March 20, 2022. Native of Holbrook, she was a daughter of Edward F. Marble and Helen M. (Shanahan) Marble and graduated from Holbrook High School in 1952. She attended Northeastern University, earning certification as an x-ray technician and worked at Phaneuf Hospital. She was retired after 40 years with Brockton Public Schools at the high school as administrative assistant in the Physical Education department. Joan enjoyed all sports, especially Boston Red Sox baseball. She was active in Ireland’s Own and Womens’ Guilds at St. Margaret’s and Our Lady of Lourdes Churches. She was devoted to her family and home, and enjoyed Irish culture and trips there. Joan was the wife of the late George D. Kerr; beloved mother of Kathleen Bloomstein (and Barry) of Sharon, Maureen Plunkett (and Richard) of Rochester, and Joan Metzendorf (and Neal) of Boston and Houston; devoted grandmother of Kaitlin Whitecross (and Jeff), Emily Switzer (and Brian), Molly Sophis (and David), Ryan Plunkett, Sarah, Mikaela and Kevin Metzendorf; loving great-grandmother of Natalie and Owen Whitecross, Siobhan Switzer and Addison Sophis; sister of Marylou Cribben, Claire Rice, Patricia Cerrato, Gail Richard, Thomas and William Marble and the late Edward, John and George Marble, Dorothy Mahoney and Helenmary Lynch; and an aunt of many nieces and nephews. All are welcome to calling hours Tuesday (March 22) 4 - 7 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, her funeral from Waitt Funeral Home, Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. and funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Ann Church, West Bridgewater. Cremation and private committal. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Special Olympics Massachusetts.
