Jerome Richard Farria, 74, of Brockton, passed away on December 7, 2025. Born in Cambridge to the late Manuel and Mary (Altemus) Faria, he was raised in Dorchester, where he affectionately was known as “Dickie” to his family and close friends and was a graduate of David L. Barrett High School in Brighton.
Jerry worked at the VA Hospital Curtis Hall in Jamaica Plain, Job Corps in Ayer, and part-time for the Brockton Housing Authority. He resided at Caffrey Towers in Brockton for almost 20 years. In earlier years he enjoyed baseball and basketball coaching. He made lasting friendships from all his contact with people.
Jerry was the beloved brother of James Faria and his wife Leslie (Tiorano) Faria of Dorchester, Bernadine Faria and her partner Robert Shaughnessy of Pembroke, and the late Agnes Santiago and her late husband José; and a close uncle of Joseph Santiago (whom he raised) and his wife Sarah Jean and their son Victor (who knew Jerry as Grampa), and Seana Davenport and her partner Amanda. He also leaves his longtime companion Cheryl Peterson Long.
Following cremation, all are welcome to memorial calling hours on Monday December 22nd from 5 to 7 p.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton.
