Jean Edner Synopcy Obituary

Jean Edner Synopcy, 96, of Brockton, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on March 2, 2024. Born in Cuba, son of the late Emmanuel Synopcy and Ceila Sermeil, he moved to Haiti with his parents at the age of seventeen. Jean immigrated to the United States in 2003, settling in Massachusetts.

He was a well-known builder in Haiti, earning him the nickname “Boss Edner”. His legacy is one of kindness. He was helpful to all, especially those in need, and was involved in every project in his community, dedicated particularly to schools and churches. Jean’s easygoing nature made people feel comfortable. He was known as “dad” at the school he worked at because of his ability to get along with everyone.

Jean valued education and understood its great importance. His children’s education was always the top priority for him, and he showered them all with love, from the oldest to the youngest. He gave the best advice and taught them respect for others. His wife’s family had a great admiration for him and would affectionately refer to him as “Decembre” because of all the gifts he would give at Christmastime.

Jean was a hardworking, disciplined man who enjoyed multitasking and working with his hands. After his retirement, he continued his craft as a skilled builder, notably constructing a spacious deck at his daughter's home. Jean was a spiritual, devoted Catholic and communicant of Christ the King Parish for many years.

Boss Edner will enter to Heaven without a doubt and be welcomed in the hands of the highest. May he rest peacefully and remain in the memory of those he has left behind.

Jean was the husband of the late Ismaelites Gerard; loving father of Marie E. Louis of Brockton, Danielle Gerard, Eddy Gerard, Pierre Renel Gerard, Douclet Aubourg, Edeline Etienne, Jean Claude Synopcy, all of Haiti, and the late Jean, Aulex, and Reynold Synopcy and their families; dear grandfather of Gina Louis, Herve Louis, Sherlyn Synopcy, Evadson Synopcy, and Emmeline Synopcy and their families; brother of the late Joliboi Synopcy, Michel Synopcy, Renel Synopcy, Willie Jean, and Germaine Synopcy; and an uncle of many nieces and nephews including Jocelyn Synopcy, Francoeur Synopcy, Fausnel Jean, Yoleine Synopcy.

All are welcome to visitation Sat., March 16th from 8-9:30 a.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 N. Main St., Brockton, his funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Parish, 54 Lyman St., Brockton, and burial at Pine Hill Cemetery, 483 N. Main St., West Bridgewater.
