Jean Remilus Tellus, 92, of Brockton, passed away peacefully at home on November 12, 2020. Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, he was the son of the late Jean Tellus and Bornélie Toussaint. Jean was a communicant of St. Edith Stein Church and enjoyed daily prayer. He was a skilled shoemaker by trade and continued making his own shoes even after retirement. Jean was devoted to his grandchildren and enjoyed storytelling and teaching them how to play “Ludo”, a traditional Haitian board game. Jean was the beloved husband of Marie A. (Cherubin) Tellus for 68 years; loving father of Marie Andree Tellus of Brockton, Marie Marthe Verdieu (and Ernst) of Brockton, Marie M. Sainte (and Jean Claude) of Brockton, Dr. Garry Tellus (and Maye) of N.Y., Jean Remy Tellus (and Ketlie) of Haiti, Rolande Pierre-Louis (and Adrien) of Brockton, Bernadette Belizaire Baptiste of Brockton, Marguerite Andrice Ducheine (and Frantz Ducheine) of Brockton, and the late Jean Max Serge Tellus and his late wife Emma; dear grandfather of Patricia Tellus, Farah Tellus, Naldine Philistin, Cindy Verdieu, Marc Ducheine, Stacey Tellus Banks, Emmanuelle Verdieu, Gamaelle Tellus, Andrice Ducheine, Sabrina Sainte, Remysha Tellus, Nicholas Belizaire, Garry Tellus Jr., Curtis Pierre-Louis, Jude Verdieu, Remyson Tellus, Vladimir Baptiste, and Hannah Baptiste; great-grandfather of 2; he also leaves additional family and friends. All are welcome to visitation Monday, November 16th from 9-10 a.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, his funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Edith Stein Church and entombment at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
