Janet L. (Smith) Hamlin, 87, of Brockton, passed away on March 4, 2025. Born in Farmington, Maine and raised in New Vineyard, Maine, she was the daughter of the late John “Lewis” and Virginia (Look) Smith. Janet was a graduate of Farmington High School and later attended secretarial school. She was employed mostly in the food service industry, working for Channel 5, CVS, and for a pediatrics office. Janet loved seasonal decorating and enjoyed dancing, taking care of her yard, crossword puzzles, and trips to the beach.
Janet was the wife of the late Wilbur D. Hamlin; beloved mother of Joseph H. Burke and his wife Susan of Middleboro, Marian “Baza” Heath and her husband Everett of Middleboro, and Virginia “Ginny” Crowe and her husband Martin “Marty” of Brockton; loving grandmother and great-grandmother of many; and the sister of the late Alan Smith.
All are welcome to memorial calling hours on Saturday, March 8th from 12-2 p.m. with a 2 p.m. memorial service at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
