James A. Sanford

James A. “Sandy” Sanford, 82, of Halifax, passed away January 11, 2022. Born in Jackson, Tennessee, he was a son of the late Morris and Ruby (Storms) Sanford. Sandy proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957-1977, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He earned a degree in commercial art from Bridgewater State University.

Sandy began his lengthy career in management with D.W. Clark in East Bridgewater as a quality control manager, before retiring from Serta Mattress as manager. After retirement, he worked part-time at Ace Hardware in Hanson and did landscaping at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. He enjoyed gardening, reading, and painting.

Sandy was the beloved husband of Carol A. (Dodero) Sanford for 56 years; loving father of Christopher Sanford (and Courtney) of Raleigh, North Carolina, Patricia Justice (and Gregory) of Halifax, and Donna Sanford-Walsh (and Garrett Walsh) of Halifax; dear Papa of James, Ellie and Joshua Sanford, Matthew Rogers, Hunter and Dylan Justice, and Daniel and Brian Walsh; brother of Carr Thomas Sanford (and Nell) of Tennessee, Paul “Tucky” Sanford (and Kate) of Tennessee, and the late Morris Leroy Sanford and Shirley Reynolds; and an uncle of many nieces and nephews.

All are welcome to calling hours Monday, January 17th from 1-3 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton, his funeral service Tuesday, January 18th at 11 a.m. in Waitt Funeral Home and burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
