James Gabriel Dure

James Gabriel Dure, a 28 year old man of many names. Whether he was called James, Jimmy, Pax, Jimolon, or Jimothy, was loved dearly, and respected fully. After a 3 year battle with cancers (also of varying names) he found peace on the morning of October 21, 2023.

James' life wound, through the theater, with forays into opera, musical theater, and competitive backstage work, before landing him at Salem State University. What Salem State did not provide in career aspiration, it made up for with tremendous connection that James was able to carry with him through the rest of his life.

In his next chapter with Year Up, he truly found his stride, discovering passion, developing skill and sharing all that he found with those lucky enough to be in his life. Music, Comedy and Technology were sacred tenets in his life, and he offered genuine appreciation to those whom were able to contribute more of these elements to the world. No matter what obstacles came his way, his strength never wavered. He faced them with an inner fortitude and a hopeful smile. If you were blessed with one, then you were truly blessed.

James is survived by his dog son, Grayson Dure, his parents Zacary and Irma Dure, his siblings Lindsey Dure, Ludmilla A. Dure and Yamileh Rachel Dure. He is also survived by his large extended Haitian family.

Funeral Friday, November 3rd at New Jerusalem Evangelical Baptist Church, 871 N. Main St., Randolph, MA with viewing from 9-10 a.m. followed by his funeral service from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Procession to follow for burial at Melrose Cemetery, 88 N. Pearl St., Brockton, MA. Live streaming of James's funeral will be available.
