Harry W. Flaherty, 81, of Brockton, passed away Sept. 15, 2023. Native of South Boston, he was the son of the late Thomas and Francine (Cormier) Flaherty. Harry served in the U.S. Army, National Guard, and briefly in the Marines. Mostly he was a truck driver; he also serviced truck tires on the road for Flaherty Tire; his last driving job was with V.H.S. His interests and hobbies were vast: longshoreman, scuba diver for the M.D.C., special police officer in Boston, self-taught artist, woodworker, model boat-builder, Elvis impersonator, and true Patriot. He loved celebrating July 4th every year with a big party. Harry was the beloved husband of Arlene M. (Flaherty) Flaherty for 58 years; loving father of Joseph Flaherty and his wife Kelly of Brockton; devoted grandfather of Samantha, Aiden and Riley; brother of the late William “Richard” Flaherty and Thomas Flaherty; and an uncle of many nieces and nephews. All are welcome to calling hours Thursday Sept. 21st from 4 to 7 p.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton. Cremation and private committal. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to American Cancer Society, Tunnel2Towers or your favorite charity.
