Harold G. “Sundy” Sutherland, Jr. (73), passed away on Friday, March 26, 2021 with his devoted wife Mary Anne by his side. Sundy was born in Wellesley, Massachusetts to Elizabeth and Harold G. Sutherland, Sr. He was the oldest of seven children: Susan, (deceased), Steven, Sally, Scotty, Stacey, and Sandy. Following in his father’s footsteps, Sundy joined the U.S. Marine Corps. He served honorably and had two tours in Vietnam. Upon his return, he attended Ferrum College in Ferrum, Virginia on a football scholarship, where he majored in History. He continued his service when he joined the Brockton Fire Department in Brockton, Massachusetts. While on the fire department, he partnered with his father, Harold, in their masonry business. Sundy is survived by two children: Harold G. “Chip” Sutherland, III of Brockton, Massachusetts and Amy (Sutherland) Alles and her husband Harry F. Alles IV of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts. Sundy retired to Florida with his wife Mary Anne of twenty-seven years. Together, they enjoyed the Florida Gulf Coast and many Cape Cod summers with close family and friends. Next to a good round of golf, Sundy’s absolute pride and joy was his collective eight grandchildren: Cole (21), Grace (21), Sophia (20), Alaina (19), Claudia (18), Harold IV “Harry” (14), Tessa (14), and Harry (6). All are welcome to gather Friday, May 7 at 11 a.m. for his 11:30 a.m. memorial service in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton. 12 noon procession forming to leave at 12:15 p.m. to his committal at Masschusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that tribute donations be made to: the Parkinson’s Foundation: https://www.parkinson.org or Good Shepherd Hospice - George C.
