Gregory F. Glass Sr.

Brother Gregory Floyd Glass Sr., 77, of Brockton, departed this life after a long and chronic illness on February 22, 2025. Gregory, the son of the late Arthur and Clara (Wells) Glass, was born on March 9, 1947 in Boston, Massachusetts. He was the second eldest of six children: five boys and one girl.

Brother Glass was educated in the Boston Public School System. He received Jesus Christ with joy as his personal Savior and walked with his Lord these past 25 years. He came to be known as a praying man, a faithful participant of his weekly Saturday night prayer call, often crying out to the Lord and interceding for souls, on the prayer line. Even as a young man, Brother Glass presented himself well beyond his years, always dressing dapper and sophisticated, having a reputation as eloquent and articulate in his speech. His charismatic nature made him easily relatable to all who knew him. He was a man of great humor: loving to laugh as well as evoking laughter, often keeping his family in stitches. His love of laughter was surpassed only by his love of family, and his devotion to close friends.

In his youth, Gregory met the love of his life, Gwendolyn Blount, and it was love at first sight for both of them. They had a wondrous and storied wedding, which received mention of note in both The Boston Globe and the Bay State Banner, a local African American newspaper. They were united on April 10th, 1965. The Lord blessed their union with three beautiful children. Brother Glass is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elder Gwendolyn Glass; his children: Gregory Jr., Stacey Dobbins (Donald), and Antoine (Katherine); his grandchildren: Isaiah, Gabrielle, Jonathan, Aaron and Ariel; and his siblings: Paul (Charles Evans), Joyce Mulligan (Chris), David (Avrill), George; as well as a host of extended family, including nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. We thank The Lord for the testimony of his life and faith in Christ Jesus.

All are welcome to his homegoing service on Friday, February 28th at 10 a.m. at Full Gospel Tabernacle Church, 452 Main St., Brockton with viewing in the church beginning at 9 a.m. Burial to follow at Melrose Cemetery, 88 N. Main St., Brockton.
