George W. Munroe, 66, a lifelong resident of Brockton, passed away peacefully at home on May 13, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late William R. and Olive F. (Scott) Munroe. A car enthusiast, he was a skilled auto mechanic for many years and in his down time enjoyed motorcycle riding, junking, and playing bingo with his family and friends. George could often be found relaxing with a cigarette and scratch tickets, relishing the simplicity of life. He was a devoted father and family man and will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
George was the beloved father of Crystal R. Munroe and Samantha A. Foster, both of Brockton, and the late Danielle M. Strew; loving special uncle of Alyssa (Miller) Bresciani; cherished grandfather of Hailey, Marissa, Iyanna, Stephanie, and Aaliyah; great-grandfather of Xayvier; brother of Doreen Grover, Mildred Ashley, Olive “Fran” Burr, Gail Arnold, Cindy Williams, Dorothy Tosetti, Stephen Munroe, and the late William Munroe, Walter Munroe, Paul Munroe, Edward Munroe, Frank Munroe, John Munroe and their families; and an uncle of many nieces and nephews. George also leaves his best friends Edie and Wally Miller.
All are welcome to calling hours on Thursday, May 21st from 4-6:30 p.m., followed by a 6:30 p.m. time of remembrance at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. Private burial to be held at a later date.
A celebration of George’s life will be held on Saturday, May 23rd from 1-5 p.m. at the Enterprise Club, 224 Clinton St., Brockton, family and friends are welcome.
