Frederick Leitah “Tay” Brodie, 48, of Brockton, passed away on February 23, 2023 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital after a courageous lengthy battle with cancer. Tay was born on November 14, 1974 in Boston, MA and was a 1994 graduate of Brockton High School. He was formerly employed by Polaroid and Hologic.
Tay was an avid sports fan and a diehard Celtics fan. He loved R&B music, especially old school music. In his spare time, he loved to play basketball, video games, card games, and pool. Tay loved sending family and friends YouTube clips.
Tay is survived by his wife Tedra Green Brodie; parents Frederick C. Searcy (Susan) and Delores “Maxine” Brodie; grandparents Mattie B. Harrison and Frederick A. Searcy (Claudine); children Amahri Leitah Brodie, Zayden Leitah Brodie, and Elijah I. Green; grandson Duke V. Barnes-Brodie; siblings Starleana D’Amore (Matthew), Frederick A. Searcy (Danielle), Matthew B. Searcy, Christopher S. Searcy, Shanel Lindsay, and Nina Lindsay; and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, a niece, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Jessie L. Searcy.
All are welcome to visitation on Tuesday, March 7th from 9-10:30 a.m., followed by a 10:30 a.m. homegoing service at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 N. Main St., Brockton, and burial at Melrose Cemetery, 88 N. Pearl St., Brockton. Livestreaming of Tay’s service will begin at 10:30 a.m.
