Frederick W. Hunter, 92, of Avon since 1956, native of Dorchester, died peacefully at home on April 18, 2021. Fred served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was an operations manager at AT&T for many years until retirement. After retiring, he worked as a letter carrier for the Sharon Post Office for five years. He was an avid competitive ice dancer with his wife Eleanor for over 30 years and enjoyed collecting books.
Fred was the beloved husband of Eleanor M. (Farricy) Hunter; loving father of William Hunter and his wife Katherine of Medford, Robert Hunter and his wife Dena of Manchester, N.H., and Carolyn Boyd of Penacook, N.H.; grandfather of 7; great-grandfather of 6; brother of the late James Hunter, Jeanne Byrnes, and Shirley Chandler; and an uncle of several generations of nieces and nephews.
