Elvire Mentor, née Norvilus, was born on April 21, 1939 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. She peacefully entered eternal rest on May 25, 2026, at the age of 87, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family. Raised in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Elvire was known for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and strong values. She carried herself with humility, grace, and compassion throughout her life, touching the hearts of everyone blessed to know her. A devoted Catholic, Elvire lived a life rooted in faith, love, and dedication to her family. She believed deeply in the importance of family unity, prayer, respect, and caring for others. Her quiet strength and loving presence brought comfort and peace to those around her.
She was united in marriage to Paul Mentor, who preceded her in death. Elvire was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend whose unconditional love will forever remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind. She was also preceded in death by her beloved son, Gerald Mentor, and her brother, Perancier Norvilus.
She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory, her daughters Carline Mentor and Margaly Mentor Cheriska; adoptive son Emmanuel Bordenave; son-in-law Eric Cheriska; cherished grandchildren Ericka, Geraldy, Yves, Eric Jr., Jerry Paul, Mirmonde, Jerry, Ralph, Sebastien, and Christian; beloved great-grandchildren Nalani, Naarah, Alyssa, Saj, and Zara; brother Dr. Pierre Franck; beloved nephew Claudel Norvilus along with many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and members of the Mentor, Norvilus, St. Vil, Bordenave, Franck, Louis and Cangé families, all of whom mourn the loss of a beloved matriarch whose love and presence touched generations.
Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in the memories, love, and legacy she leaves behind. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and she will forever remain deeply loved and dearly missed.
May she rest in eternal peace.
