With profound sadness, we announce the unexpected passing of Elvila (Samedi) Pierre on February 18, 2021. She was 74 years old. She was the matriarch of her family and will be deeply missed.
Born on July 30, 1946 in Anse à Veau, Haiti of the late Vilacin Samedi and Idela Maignant. On December 29, 1973, she married her longtime friend and love, Ectus Pierre who preceded her in death in 2008.
A loving and devoted mother and friend, she touched so many lives and was a master in the kitchen.
She survived by her children: Nancy Pierre Ambroise (Gary), Hebert Emmanuel Pierre, Pascale Pierre Felix (Jean Vilné) and Stanley Pierre (Johane). Her grandchildren: Cedric Pierre, Garvin Ambroise and Shanaya Pierre. Her siblings: Anila Perciné and her children: Gregory, Eddy and Farah; the late Jean Claude Samedi and his children: Kathelyne, Joanne, Carl Henry & Carl Fabrice; Roland Samedi and his children: Tamara, Ricardo & Handy; Violette Tillus (Isnard) and her daughters: Laurence & Melissa. She also leaves many beloved cousins, a host of dear friends, countless godchildren, and her church community at Christ the King Parish in Brockton.
All are welcome to a walk-through calling hours (limited capacity) on Friday, February 26th from 4-8 p.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. Her funeral Mass on Saturday, February 27th at 10:00 a.m. (limited occupancy) at Christ the King Parish 54 Lyman St., Brockton. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. Face masks and social distancing required. Live streaming of Elvila’s funeral will be available.
