Elizabeth G. (Crocker) “Betty” Brunelle, 98, a lifelong resident of Avon, passed away November 2, 2023. Born in Brockton, she was the only child of the late Everett L. and Marie L. (Nolan) Crocker. She would josh that she was the original “Betty Crocker”. In earlier years she worked at the Avon Egg Auction. After meeting Paul E. Brunelle they were married on June 2, 1956 and cherished 61 years as husband and wife until his passing.
She was employed for many years at C.C. Overland Express, a trucking company, and she retired as an office manager from there. She and Paul loved the Town of Avon and were active in local organizations, and they were lifelong communicants of St. Michael Church there. They travelled extensively all over the world. Betty especially liked New Zealand and thought of Salzburg, Austria as the most beautiful place. One notable trip to France was the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Normandy as Paul was the President of the 4th Infantry Division Association at the time and they were invited to attend the commemoration.
Betty also enjoyed collecting art and visiting art museums, and to share her fondness of art she donated several beloved paintings to Peabody Essex Museum in Salem. Betty and Paul spent a few winters in Florida in later years. Most recently Betty resided at Heights Crossing in Brockton where she made new friends in a comfortable place.
Betty is survived by her close cousins Nancy Cabral and Barbara Owens and her husband William, nephew Gene Brunelle and other nieces and nephews of Paul, and close neighbors and friends Larry Astuto and his wife Donna.
