Eleanor (Sorgman) Duval, 93, a lifelong resident of Brockton, died Jan. 14, 2022. A daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Stinson) Sorgman, she was one of their five children. Eleanor was a 1946 graduate of Brockton High School. She was a special machine operator in local garment manufacturing, mostly for Nardi Sportswear. As a longtime I.L.G.W.U. member she also served as an officer in the U.N.I.T.E. organization. "Look for the Union Label." She was an active member of the Brockton Senior Center and a board member of the Council on Aging. Eleanor enjoyed crafts and bingo, enjoyed traveling and going to the beach. She collected lighthouses and had visited several of them. Eleanor was family-oriented, a devoted sister and aunt. She was married for many years to the late Raymond Duval; her late sister Pearl was married to his brother, the late Gerald Duval; they resided in the same house for many years. She leaves her close sister Frances Sorgman; nephew Richard Duval and his wife Hong and family; her late niece Diane White's sons Robert and Michael D'Arcy; she also leaves other nieces and nephews; Eleanor was also the sister of the late Edward and George Sorgman. All are welcome to gather Friday, Jan. 21st at 11 a.m. for her 12 noon memorial service at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton. Private spring burial. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Brockton Council on Aging, 10 Father Kenney Way, Brockton MA 02301 in honor of Eleanor's dedication to her fellow Seniors.
