Eileen T. (Sweeney) Daly, 92, recently of Avon, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2021. Native of Boston, she grew up in Brockton with her grandmother Ellen “Nellie” Ford and her mother Mary (Sweeney) Cohen and she graduated from Brockton High School in 1947. She raised her children in Brockton and was dedicated to her family and home. Eileen lived at Matfield Woods in West Bridgewater for 35 years and was an avid Bocce player there. Always naturally athletic and talented, she was an all-around entertainer. She sang, danced and made people smile at local schools, senior centers and nursing homes. Her greatest joys in life were entertaining and her grandchildren.
Eileen was the wife of the late Herbert C. “Red” Daly for 65 years; beloved mother of Herbert C. Daly Jr. (and his partner Judi) of Quincy, Cheryl A. Daly Dovner of Stoughton and Maureen Maisano (and her husband Carmelo) of Avon; devoted grandmother of Matthew Dovner of Florida, Ryan Dovner of Florida and Scott Dovner of Avon; great-grandmother of Alexis Dovner, Ava Dovner, Charlotte Dovner, Jordan Dovner and Adelyn Dovner; sister of Beverly Correia and the late Donald, Robert and David Cohen; an aunt and great-aunt of many; and she greatly missed her late furbaby Sophia.
All are welcome to visitation Tuesday, May 4 from 10:30-11:30 a.m., followed by an 11:30 a.m. service in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton and burial at Melrose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Animal Protection Center of Southeastern MA, 1300 West Elm St. Ext. Brockton MA 02301.
