Edith Barthelemy Obituary

Edith Marie Barthelemy, 59, of Brockton, passed away at home on June 11, 2021. She was born on November 24, 1961, in a southeastern commune of Haiti called Bainet. She was one of six children of Denius Barthelemy and Janine Begin.

Edith spent her early life in Haiti and migrated to the United States during the early 80s. She arrived in Massachusetts and spent a few years working in the healthcare system as a CNA. In 1988, she began working at Symmons Industries Inc., where she enjoyed many opportunities of advancement, and has been with the company ever since.

Edith first gave birth to her son, Gabriel Israel. Her daughter, Tania Barthelemy, was born one year later. With her two children and grandson, Edith settled life in Brockton, Massachusetts.

Edith loved cooking, gardening, singing gospel music, and spending time with her family. She was a God-fearing woman and loved sharing the gospel of the Lord. She was an active member of Haitian Assembly of God, Brockton and taught Bible study during Sunday School.

On June 11, 2021, the Lord called Edith back home, leaving a tremendous deficit amongst the Barthelemy family. She will forever be remembered as a generous woman who was hard-working and devoted to her family and friends. Although reserved by nature, the fondest memories are of her sharing jokes and humorous stories.

She was selfless and devoted to her loved ones, cherishing the strong bond between sisters and enjoying daily phone conversations with friends and family. Her quiet strength was an example to all who watched her. Edith’s teachings in life will continue on in her beloved children.

She is survived by her two children, Gabriel Israel and Tania Barthelemy; her grandson, Mannix Lewis; her siblings, Solange Patrice and her husband Franklin, Francette Gay and her husband Hubert, Marie Barthelemy, and Willy Barthelemy; her nieces and nephews, Fabiola Patrice, Edson Patrice and his wife Arleta, Sanley Patrice, Kassandra Patrice, Francesca Gay, Kathleen Vital-Herne and her husband Dimitri, Wideline Barthelemy, and Jennifer Barthelemy. Edith also leaves many close cousins and friends in Haiti, including her companion Junior Charles. She was the sister of the late Delouis Barthelemy, Audette Barthelemy, and Demande Barthelemy.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Symmons Industries and Edith's work family, along with Edith's church family for all of their love and support during this time of great loss.
