Donna L. (Lewis) Haraldstad

Donna Haraldstad (1942-2023), a long-time Brockton resident, died on October 25. She leaves a loving family and many friends who remember her warmth, sense of humor and energy. Donna was born at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth and lived in Braintree as a small child. The family, including her father, Frederick C. Lewis, her mother, Doris Lewis Rawson, her sister, Georgia Joyce, and brother, Robert Lewis, moved to Brockton in 1955. Donna studied business at Brockton High School, graduated in 1961 and took a clerical job at the former King-Size in Brockton. She soon met Robert Haraldstad through a blind date arranged by their best friends, the late Billy and Linda Cobb. Donna and Bob were married for 61 years. Their home on Drew Avenue became increasingly busy after the births of Brenda, Sharon and Debra. Donna worked part-time at Woolworth and Purity Supreme while raising her children. Once they had grown up, she took a position as bookkeeper at the former LeBaron Foundry, which was a major provider of materials for Boston’s central artery/tunnel project, known as the Big Dig. Donna retired after many years at LeBaron. The young Haraldstad family enjoyed camping around New England and fishing on their boat in the Plymouth area. Donna was an avid reader who enjoyed her participation in the local bowling league and, increasingly, travel to Aruba and Florida. She and Bob spent many happy summers at Peter’s Pond in Sandwich. Last year, as her health deteriorated, they moved together to an assisted living residence. Donna leaves her husband, Bob, and daughters Brenda (Bourne) and Sharon (Braintree). She is predeceased by her daughter, Debra, who died in 2021. Donna played an active role in raising her grandson, Michael Agresta, and his daughter, Lillian Renee Agresta. Donna leaves nieces, nephews, many cousins and dear friends. She was a devoted daughter to her dear mother, Doris. Services in memory of Donna will be held at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton, MA 02301: Visitation on Wed. Nov. 1, 5:00-7:00 pm and her Funeral service on Thurs. Nov. 2, 12:00 noon.
