Dominic J. “Chicky” Calabrese, 90, of Brockton since 1969, passed away peacefully at home on May 11, 2025 surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Charlestown, he was the son of the late Dominic J. and Archettina (Saccardo) Calabrese. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
A talented tile craftsman, Chicky began his lengthy career in 1960 working for Bloom, South & Gurney and in 1978 started his own business, Calabrese Tile, until retiring at 80 years old. He was a member of Local 3 Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen. In his downtime, Chicky enjoyed woodworking, woodcarving, and painting.
Dominic was the beloved husband of Irena (Szwedko) Sabina Calabrese since 2011 and the late Beverly (Foley) Calabrese; brother of the late Josephine Otis and Augustine “Sonny” “Gus” Calabrese; and an uncle of many nieces and nephews. Chicky also leaves many dear extended family and friends to mourn his passing.
All are welcome to visitation on Saturday, May 31st from 9-10 a.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 N. Main St., Brockton, followed by a 10:30 a.m. memorial Mass at St. Edith Stein Church, 71 E. Main St., Brockton and burial at Calvary Cemetery, 95 N. Cary St., Brockton. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the American Heart Association.
