Dionisio A. Medina Lugo, 70, of Brockton, passed away on August 31, 2025. Born in San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic, he migrated to Puerto Rico, where he met the love of his life Maria, affectionately known as "Mercedes", and in 1988 made a home for his family in Massachusetts. Dionisio’s entrepreneurial spirit led to many food business ventures throughout the years.
He was devoted to his faith and in his free time enjoyed cooking delicious meals, watching baseball, and listening and dancing to Spanish music. In keeping with his love of the sport, Dionisio entertained a professional baseball career in his youth. Known for his great sense of humor, Dionisio had the ability to make everyone laugh, whether from a joke or one of his many hysterical antics. He will be missed by all who loved him.
Dionisio was the cherished son of Gladys Lugo of Brockton and the late Dionicio DeRegla Medina; husband of the late Maria M. "Mercedes" (Santiago Echevarria) Medina for 29 years until her passing; beloved father of Jael N. Hilliard (and Nikoma) of Brockton, Sahira N. Medina-Brockington (and Manny) of Brockton, and Mercedes N. Medina (and Michael) of Malden; loving grandfather of five fur babies Brady, Pucho, Bentley, Lady, and Bobo; dear brother of Marco Medina Lugo, Miriam Baptista, Juan Manuel Medina Lugo, and Juan Ramon Medina Lugo; and an uncle of many nieces and nephews.
