Dennis W. Collins

On Thursday September 12, 2024 Dennis W. Collins our cherished brother passed away after a brief illness at the age of 80.

Dennis was born December 25, 1943. Though he resided in North Easton, he grew up in Avon, Mass where he attended Avon High School and made many friends whose company he still enjoyed.

After graduating high school Dennis became a pipefitter by trade and a member of the Pipefitters Union where he was well known for volunteering for summer layoffs so he could visit his beloved beaches. He remained a member of Local 537 for over 50 years. 

Dennis was an avid canoe racing enthusiast and enjoyed racing with many partners over the years.  He has many trophies and medals showing how much he enjoyed the sport. 

Over the years Dennis enjoyed traveling. Out of the country at first but decided flying was not for him and switched to touring the US by car visiting many states.

Dennis was a lifelong communicant of St. Michael Church in Avon and a longtime member of the Polish White Eagles in Brockton.

Dennis was predeceased by his sister Cindy Petti and his brother Michael Collins. He is survived by his siblings Bonnie Graham and Steve, Wendy Topping, Carl Collins and Joanne, Jay Bissonette and brother in-law Lance Petti and several nieces and nephews.

All are welcome to calling hours Thursday September 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., his funeral Friday September 27 at 10 a.m. from Waitt Funeral Home followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Michael Church, 87 North Main St. Avon and burial at St. Michael Cemetery, Avon. Those wishing, in thanks for the care Dennis received at Ruth McLain Hospice Home in Braintree, memorial gifts may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley St. West Bridgewater MA 02379.
