David A. Sorrell, 63, of Avon, passed away March 7, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Okinawa, Japan as part of a military family, he was raised in Brockton. He was a son of the late Richard K. Sorrell, Alice C. (Kilroy)(Sorrell) Rider and Gerald C. Rider. After graduating from Brockton High School David attended Wentworth Institute and completed training for F.A.A. Airframes and Power Plants to earn his aircraft mechanic’s license. Later on he worked in roofing. David was an avid fisherman, boater, small engine mechanic, and he had skydived over 500 times. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by extended family and many friends. David was the beloved partner of Karen Elias for 22 years; beloved brother of Richard Sorrell Jr. of Florida (and the late Melanie), Ramona Murray of Michigan, Phillip Sorrell of Brockton, Carl Rider of Pennsylvania, Lorene Venezia (and her husband Michael) of Pennsylvania, Katherine Farrell of Stoughton and the late Christopher Rider (and his widow Kim of Plymouth); and Karen’s children David Techiera (and Rachel Hanshaw), Sharon and Anna and their family, Rachel and Travis and their family; a very special Uncle Dave of many nieces and nephews including Courtney (Lynch) Ryan and her husband Stephen Ryan and their children Anthony and Jameson Ryan; and a great friend of many.
All are welcome to calling hours Wednesday March 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton. Private cremation. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to American Cancer Society.
