Claire L. (Loving) Jensen of Taunton, formerly of Stoughton and Brockton, died on February 2, 2024 after a lengthy illness. Born in Brockton, the daughter of the late George Clarence and Ruth Irene (Mattson) Loving, and stepdaughter of E. Louise (Otis) Loving, she attended Stoughton schools, graduating from Stoughton High School in 1954. She attended Brockton Hospital School of Nursing and Massasoit Community College, graduating with an associates degree in nursing in 1980. She was employed at Goddard Memorial Hospital and Good Samaritan Medical Center, retiring from the latter in 1999.
She was the former wife of Bruce A. Jensen for forty four years. Claire is predeceased by her son Bruce A. Jensen Jr. of Brockton and sister Lorraine (Dave) Blair of Texas.
She is survived by two sons, Erik A. Jensen of Freetown, Christopher A. (Kimberly) Jensen of Freetown, two daughters Wendy S. Mitchell (Douglas) of Middleboro and Debbie L. Breton of California along with daughter in law Patricia Jensen of her late son. She leaves behind ten grandchildren: Michael, Janelle, Chelsea, Courtney, Leah, Julianne, Chelsie, Benjamin, Owen and Victoria. She was the loving Nana to ten great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister Linda (Alan) Widberg of Canton and four nieces: Kristi, Brenda, Bobbye and Betsy.
Claire enjoyed her family and many friends including beloved lifelong friend Janine. She was an avid reader, loved completing her daily crossword puzzles and enjoyed traveling. She was a communicant of Christ Congregational Church, U.C.C. in Brockton for many years.
All are welcome to calling hours Tuesday February 6th from 2-4 p.m. followed by a 4 p.m. service at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St. Brockton celebrating her life officiated by chaplain Vincent Crouse. Following cremation her remains will be later be interred at Melrose Cemetery and spread in Westport, MA in a private ceremony.
In remembrance of Claire’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations can be made to her friends at the Raynham Public Library and to Vintage Pet Rescue of Foster, RI.
