Claire L. (Swift) (Wilbur) Archer, 92, of West Bridgewater, native of Brockton, died June 6, 2021. She was the wife of Junius “Randy” Archer and the late Frederick S. Wilbur. A 1945 graduate of Brockton High School, she graduated Cum Laude from Green Mountain Junior College in 1947. Claire was a medical secretary at MGH from 1947-1953. She later worked as a teacher at Little Folks Private School in Brockton for 17 years, then as an assistant librarian at Avon Middle-High School for 21 years. Claire was a member and afterschool program assistant at Central United Methodist Church for many years, she was also a volunteer for Old Colony Hospice. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, traveling, reading, and physical fitness. She had also resided in Avon and recently at Heights Crossing.
Claire was the beloved mother of Karen E. Wilbur of West Bridgewater; sister of the late Janet Peterson and Muriel Horton; and an aunt of many.
All are welcome to calling hours Mon., June 14th from 4-6 p.m., followed by a 6 p.m. service in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 N. Main St., Brockton. Private committal. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley St., West Bridgewater, MA 02379.
